Hello Everyone!
Ecominds' funding is ending soon so don't miss the chance of getting involved now! The garden will still run next year and we need more volunteers to look after it. Please see below for the full timetable for September and October. Everything takes place at Syrian House, which is a care home for people with mental health needs (Sandiway Road, Sale. M33 5AL).
Art Sessions - Tuesday 20th and 27th September & every Tuesday in October | 1.30pm to 3pm
We will be mosaicing plant pots with beads, buttons and glass pebbles to include in the garden... lovely stuff that will keep the colour of the garden throughout the year.
Visit to Dunham Massey - Tuesday 6th September | 10am to 2pm
We are visiting the gardens at Dunham Massey to get some inspiration and share a lovely day in the outdoors. Places are limited so please book in advance.
Gardening Session - Every Wednesday | 2pm to 4pm
We are looking for a someone keen on growing vegs at Syrian House. The gardening group will still run on Wednesdays but, at the moment, we don't have a coordinator. If you are interested in planning the next growing season, please send us an email to info@naturalrecovery.org.uk
Bye Bye BBQ - Wednesday 14th September | 2pm to 5pm
We are holding a BBQ to celebrate the end of Ecominds' funding, the end of the summer and to say goodbye to Carolina and Cristian, who are leaving the country! If you are a regular volunteer, it will be a great time to share with all the residents of the house. If you've never come before, this is the chance to get to know the people and get involved in future projects. Please let us know you are coming to get enough food for everybody!
Anual General Meeting - Tuesday 13th September | 10am to 11am
All volunteers are invited to participate in our anual general meeting where we will make an evaluation of the outcomes of the Ecominds project and set new ones for next year. If you are interested in becoming a member of the committee, please let us know because this is the time when new people get on board! We are looking for volunteers to take the following responsibilities:
- Treasurer: keep an up-to-date spreadsheet with all incomes and expenditures. You will be a bank signatory. Time required: a few hours every one or two months, you can work from home and you will need a computer.
- Gardening coordinator: run the garden, plan next season's crops, grow vegetables. Time required: 2 hours every week or every fortnight, you will need to come down to the garden.
- Volunteer coordinator: contact new volunteers, answer requests by email, and keep facebook, twitter & blog up to date, advertising meetings and opportunities. Time required: a few hours per month, you can work from home and you will need a computer.
